PROJECT: A Year of Forgetting

Each painting is a visual recording of a month of daily lapses of memory. I start with a set of shapes that represent different types of forgetfulness, like when someone finishes my sentence, or forgetting what I was saying after I’m interrupted, plus many more. I begin with pencil composites of each day’s forgetting-symbols in my sketchbook. Later I make a fanciful painting that functions as a map or calendar of the mental-me, poking fun, I hope, at the aging process.
